Where Sunday's Message Meets Everyday Life

The Lord is my Shepherd …

A fresh look at Psalm 23 …

The Almighty Lord is like a shepherd to me – always there, always watching, always vigilant.
He knows what I need, and He meets my every need every day, every hour, every moment.
This ever-present Shepherd knows what I need to satisfy my hunger, and even though we go through dry and dangerous places, He is leading me to exactly what I need.
My caring Shepherd satisfies my deepest thirst. He lets me drink to my fill and my very soul is satisfied.
He guides me in righteous paths and keeps me from straying into dark and dangerous places.

My Shepherd looks upon me as one of His own. He cares for me, for I am His.
When the valley is dark and the way is hard, He is always there. My faithful Shepherd never, ever leaves me alone.

Even when I cannot see Him, I hear His voice singing songs of joy over me, and I am not afraid for You have everything needed to come to my aid.
Though I may be surrounded by enemies, with You there is bounty, always enough and more than enough.

Your blessings pour upon me like an anointing oil. You fill me to overflowing – my heart, my soul, my mind, my life run over with Your presence and Your goodness.
As I follow My guiding Shepherd, I wade in the wake of His goodness and mercy. Every day I am awash in them.
And I know that when this journey comes to an end, when my days are spent and I leave these earthly pastures, that I am welcomed home by the One who guided my every step in life, the One who was always there, the One who called me by name and calls me still.
My Shepherd who cared for me in green pastures and dark valleys will be with me always and forever.
