This past Saturday night as we were getting ready for bed, we took the times to set all the clocks forward one hour.  Daylight Savings Time had arrived again!  If you’re reading this and happened to forget to set your clocks, then my column will answer your question as to why people have been showing up places so early lately.

It took very little effort to wind the stem on my watch or to push the hour button on my alarm clock.  It was 8:00pm, and then in the next moment it was 9:00pm.  Typically time doesn’t move that fast, but it marches forward relentlessly and swiftly nonetheless.

King David observes:  “You have made my days a mere handbreadth;  the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.” (Psalm 39:5)

When I was a boy I used to think it strange when an older person mentioned how quickly time passes.  Approaching the 50-year mark, I fully understand their point of view.  Life is short and time is brief.  Let us make the most of it.
