One Another…

My fellow believers,

I have always found it interesting that Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, a prayer offered in the shadow of the soon-coming cross, focused so much on unity among His followers (John 17:20-21). For Jesus, this was a big deal – no, not a big deal – it was a HUGE deal! That unity is part of our Christian witness. Our unity shows the power of the Gospel to bring such a diverse group of people together, a group who might disagree on a variety of issues but who could agree that Jesus is Lord!

Jesus even told His followers that people would know that we belong to Him because of how we love one another (John 13:35). Again, our witness in the world is closely tied to our genuinely loving one another – not just those who are easy to love or those who think and act like we do.

The New Testament has 59 admonitions for how believers are to act toward fellow Christians – 59 one anothers. If unity is such a huge deal to Jesus, isn’t it worth our time to regularly review these verses and re-evaluate our relationships within the body of Christ? For your edification, I offer them here:
