Prayer for our Country

O Lord God of heaven, great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love You and keep Your commandments, we come before You humbly asking for mercy. Forgive us for not keeping the new commandment Jesus gave us…loving one another just as He loved us.  He promised we would be known by our love for one another. Let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, to hear the prayers of Your children. Holy Spirit, help us stay focused and pray day and night for the people of America and the world.  We confess the sins of the people of America, which we have sinned against You…even I and my father’s house have sinned.  We have acted corruptly against you and have not kept the commandment that Jesus commanded us to keep. We allowed moral, social and political corruption to invade our land…forgive us and restore Your people to be Light and Salt in the earth once again. We are your servants, whom you have redeemed by your great power and by your strong hand. O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name…grant us mercy, O LORD! (John 13:34-35) Father, we need You!  Our nation is divided as never before, and we now face the most serious presidential election in our history. Never have the two major platforms been more diverse and opposed to each other. The voters are in a great dilemma, and Your Word is our standard of right and wrong. Give us the grace to restore the foundation and rebuild the spiritual walls of our nation. Send us a spiritual awakening so spiritual and social reformation might be re-instituted in our country.  Give us a vision of restoration, and remind us when we are tempted to go down to the enemy’s camp, that we are doing a great work and we cannot come down.  (Nehemiah 6:3)

  1. I was hoping you are in Greensboro, NC!!! Disappointed to discover GA. Would like to be on your mailing list.

    1. Mary, the prayer came from a dear friend of mine, Germaine Copeland. You can get daily prayers from her at You can also get on her email list. In addition, Germaine has authored a number of books that are basically using Scripture to pray. A search for “Prayers That Avail Much” will yield quite a few results. As for the blog, I do not post weekly, but I’m aiming to do more in 2017. I also have all my sermons online at or they can be accessed through our website –

May you have a very happy and blessed Christmas season.
